Hi

While watching RWM-1 module, use the following browser extention:

” Transpose.video ”

And change the pitch from E to G ( viz -3 semitones )

And practice along, using your G Flute

The said extension now works on Microsoft Edge as well. And a great tool indeed.

Generally people don’t order readymade Flute having Thumb-hole. I suggest you visit a nearby Flute maker with your existing bass Flute, discuss together your playing style and resolve the thumb-hole. Its a matter of not more than 15mins.

And in near future, for ordering a new Flute( with thumb hole ) visit a maker in person or courier your existing thumb hole Flute to the maker.

Because even a slight deviation from the natural thumb position may lead to muscle pain in a period of time and more importantly the notes may start sounding sharp/flat because thumb is naturally trying to rest on the given thumb hole while compromising the blowing angle.

Arjun here, but without a divine bow (a complete Flute set) 😀

As Iam not a professional, iam not recognising a need of a Flute set, at present.

But still i enhanced my collection, and in addition to my E bass, iam having a higher(lengthwise) Bass Flute , a lower(lengthwise) Bass Flute and a middle Flute.

From these flutes of varied lengths, other than my regular practice, once in a week, i pick one flute to practice 1.5-2hr of Alankar/Palta.

Over a period of time, I noticed,

1. The practice on a Higher Flute has yielded better holding, reachability and poster ON E BASS.

2. The practice on Lower and middle Flutes has yielded improved playability of komal Swars and Meends ON E BASS.

I believe you are asking about pitch and speed changing tool. Thanks to Ashwin Sir to introducing to us such a great tool. I had just started learning flute. Yet other than my practice, very often i try to find the SWARS and harkatein from the great Maestros performances with the help of this tool ( slowing it down ). Its ” Chrome extension TRANSPOSE ”

If you want to continue with the existing Flute, most of the Flute makers have a method of closing the existing thumb hole permanently using bamboo dust and creating a new hole altogether. Also, instead of these experiments, if you feel the Flute maker is rightly understanding you, a new Flute is the best thing.
